IO Inventory is designed so that scanning your development environment never requires sending data anywhere. This page explains exactly what that means in plain language.
Everything runs locally
The scan, the local database, and the app UI all run on your machine. IO Inventory does not upload inventory data to any server operated by us or anyone else.
No telemetry
The app does not collect analytics or usage telemetry about how you use it. There is no “phone home” behavior built into the product.
Secrets are not read or stored
API keys, tokens and other secret values are not read or stored by IO Inventory. Where relevant, the app may detect the presence of a supported configuration file (for example, that a credentials file exists) without ever reading or persisting the value inside it.
What about this website?
This marketing website is a separate, static site from the IO Inventory desktop app and its “100% local, no telemetry” promise describes the product, not this page. This website uses Umami, a privacy-oriented, cookieless analytics tool, to understand aggregate traffic (for example, how many people visit and which links they click). Umami does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. No product/machine data is ever involved — only anonymous website traffic.
Open source
Because IO Inventory is open source, these claims are verifiable rather than promises to take on faith.
